On the Installation Type screen, check the GlobalProtect checkbox and click Continue. Follow the prompts to complete the installation. The GlobalProtect app will pop up and ask for a portal address. This document describes how to download and install the GlobalProtect VPN client on a personally-owned Mac computer.
This document describes how to download and install the UWM GlobalProtect VPN client on a personal Mac computer. For instructions on how to set up global protect on a University owned machine, see GlobalProtect VPN for macOS - Self Service Setup Instructions.
Note: This client is compatible with OS X 10.9 or later.
Download the Client
Installing the GlobalProtect Client (Mac)
- Open the downloaded file. Proceed through the installation process, you will need to click continue, then continue, then install.
- If you are prompted for your password, type it in. It will look like the image below once you have typed in your password. Then select install software.
- Some users will be prompted with a message saying 'System Extension Blocked.' In this case, select Open Security Preferences then select Allow in the following window.

After the installation has finished, proceed to GlobalProtect VPN - How to connect (macOS) for instructions on how to connect.

Setup on how to configure the GlobalProtect Client on Mac OS.
You may or may not get a notification that new software is available in Mac OS notifications like pictured above. You can find the same information in Self Service on your Mac.
Once you open SelfService.app on your Mac computer, search for Palo Alto GlobalProtect Client. Click on Install to download and install the software on your computer. The Palo Alto GlobalProtect Client is listed under the 'Security' category.
Globalprotect On Mac
After it is installed, a new icon will be visible in your menu bar that is shaped like a globe (world). After installation, it will ask you for the GlobalProtect portal address (picture below). Enter the url that you see there.
After this url has been entered, it will prompt you for your UWPlatt NetID credentials (picture below). This is to allow the computer to connect using your credentials to provide access according to your rights.
By being connected through the VPN connection, you can now natively access documents as if you were located on campus. This is an always-on VPN connection so you do not manually need to think about connecting and disconnecting.
Resources accessible now would be for example your shared folders, or your personal home directory.
